On April 3rd, our friend Jane Goodall turns 90 years old. As a tribute to Jane’s birthday we have partnered together to sell a very limited amount of honey from Tanzania. It’s also known as Miombo Honeydew Honey, one of the rarest honeys on earth. The Bees in the forest forage on plant sap produced by Aphids, rather than blossoms. The result is a deep, dark, antioxidant-rich honey with a completely unique taste profile featuring notes of molasses, brown sugar, and raisened fruits. We have never tasted anything like it before.
The honey is harvested by Beekeepers using traditional methods, some of them traveling days to reach their hives. It’s part of the Jane Goodall Institute’s community-led conservation efforts, where local community members turned beekeepers collect Honey using traditional methods. Beekeeping helps these community members earn supplemental income, while also helping to protect sacred Tanzanian land.
$18.57 per jar will be donated directly to the Jane Goodall Institute’s remarkable work (the remainder are direct costs).
Happy birthday Jane
